About the author (2010)

Margaret Locke is Professor Marjorie Bronfman Emerita of the Department of Social Studies in Medicine and the Department of Anthropology at McGill University. Among its awards, many awards include the Gold Medal for Research of the Council for Social Research and Human Sciences of Canada and the Wellcome Medal of the British Anthropological Society. In 2005 he received the Killam Prize and the Trudeau Foundation scholarship. She is the author and co-editor of 14 books and published more than 190 pages.

Vinh Kim Nguyen is an anthropologist and medical doctor. He practices medicine in Montreal at Clinique l'Actuel, a specialist in HIV and hepatitis, in the emergency department of the Jewish General Hospital, and teaches at the University of Montreal, where he is an assistant professor of social medicine. As a researcher, he belongs to the World Health Unit of the Hospital Research Center of the University of Montreal and the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle, Germany. He recently received the Aurora Award for his research from the Council for Research in Social and Human Sciences in Canada.
