Kant: Anthropology from a Pragmatic Point of View By Immanuel Kant

Anthropology reflects from a pragmatic point of view, mainly Kant's recent lectures on his annual course in anthropology, which he taught from 1772 until his retirement in 1796. The lectures were published in 1798, with the largest edition of Kant's first work. The objective of this program, which is addressed to a wide audience, is not only Kant's unique contribution to emerging anthropology but also his desire to provide a practical vision of the world and the place of humanity in it. Focusing on what man can "make him act alone or that can be made of himself", anthropology presents to readers the application of some central elements of Kant's philosophy. This volume presents an annotated translation of the text by Robert B. Ludin, as well as an introduction by Manfred Cohen, exploring the context and themes of the conferences.
